PLUMBING TIPS

  •  Unfortunately, many plumbers do not install expansion tanks on water heaters correctly.

  • The expansion tank should be pressurized with air between 60 and 80 PSI, matching the current water pressure in the building  
  • The expansion tank should not be screwed directly on to any copper piping. *THAT’S RIGHT*. There should be a brass adapter between the copper piping and the expansion tank to prevent electrolysis (a chemical reaction between two dissimilar metals which causes a dramatic break down of the two metals through corrosion). 
  •  If a plumber does not show respect and care while handling your concerns or your property, then the plumber does not respect you.

  • A concerned plumber should not just fix the problem at hand, but the plumber should also offer a free inspection of the rest of the property. 
  •  It should not be a burden for the plumber to explain to you what he / she is doing.
