Unfortunately, many plumbers do not install expansion tanks on water heaters correctly.
The expansion tank should be pressurized with air between 60 and 80 PSI, matching the current water pressure in the building
The expansion tank should not be screwed directly on to any copper piping. *THAT’S RIGHT*. There should be a brass adapter between the copper piping and the expansion tank to prevent electrolysis (a chemical reaction between two dissimilar metals which causes a dramatic break down of the two metals through corrosion).
If a plumber does not show respect and care while handling your concerns or your property, then the plumber does not respect you.
A concerned plumber should not just fix the problem at hand, but the plumber should also offer a free inspection of the rest of the property.
It should not be a burden for the plumber to explain to you what he / she is doing.
